Amineralresourceisaconcentrationoroccurrenceof

diamonds,naturalsolidinorganicmaterial,ornaturalsolid

fossilizedorganicmaterialincludingbaandprecious

metals,coal,andindustrialmineralsinorontheEarth’s

crustinsuchformandquantityandofsuchagradeor

qualitythatithasreasonableprospectsforeconomic

ation,quantity,grade,geological

characteristicsandcontinuityofamineralresourceare

known,estimatedorinterpretedfromspecificgeological

lresourcesaresub-

divided,inorderofincreasinggeologicalconfidence,

intoinferred,indicatedandmeasuredcategories.

Aninferredmineralresourceisthatpartofamineral

resourceforwhichquantityandgradeorqualitycanbe

estimatedonthebasisofgeologicalevidenceandlimited

samplingandreasonablyassumed,butnotverified,

imateisbadon

limitedinformationandsamplinggatheredthrough

appropriatetechniquesfromlocationssuchasoutcrops,

trenches,pits,workingsanddrillholes.

Anindicatedmineralresourceisthatpartofamineral

resourceforwhichquantity,gradeorquality,densities,

shapeandphysicalcharacteristics,canbeestimatedwith

alevelofconfidencesufficienttoallowtheappropriate

applicationoftechnicalandeconomicparameters,to

supportmineplanningandevaluationoftheeconomic

imateisbadondetailed

andreliableexplorationandtestinginformationgathered

throughappropriatetechniquesfromlocationssuchas

outcrops,trenches,pits,workingsanddrillholesthatare

spacedclolyenoughforgeologicalandgradecontinuity

Ameasuredmineralresourceisthatpartofa

mineralresourceforwhichquantity,gradeorquality,

densities,shapeandphysicalcharacteristicsaresowell

establishedthattheycanbeestimatedwithconfidence

sufficienttoallowtheappropriateapplicationof

technicalandeconomicparameters,tosupport

productionplanningandevaluationoftheeconomic

imateisbadondetailed

andreliableexploration,samplingandtesting

informationgatheredthroughappropriatetechniques

fromlocationssuchasoutcrops,trenches,pits,workings

anddrillholesthatarespacedclolyenoughtoconfirm

Mineralresources,whicharenotmineralrerves,do

nothavedemonstratedeconomicviability.

Amineralrerveistheeconomicallymineablepartof

ameasuredorindicatedmineralresourcedemonstrated

udymust

includeadequateinformationonmining,processing,

metallurgical,economicandotherrelevantfactorsthat

demonstrate,atthetimeofreporting,thateconomic

extractioncanbejustified.

Amineralrerveincludesdilutingmaterialsand

allowancesforlossthatmayoccurwhenthematerial

is

lrervesaresub-dividedinorderof

increasing

confidenceintoprobablemineralrervesand

blemineralrerveisthe

economicallymineablepartofanindicatedand,insome

circumstances,ameasuredmineralresourcedemonstrated

udymust

includeadequateinformationonmining,processing,

metallurgical,economicandotherrelevantfactorsthat

demonstrate,atthetimeofreporting,thateconomic

extractioncanbejustified.

Aprovenmineralrerveistheeconomicallymineable

partofameasuredmineralresourcedemonstratedbyat

udymustinclude

adequateinformationonmining,processing,metallurgical,

economicandotherrelevantfactorsthatdemonstrate,at

thetimeofreporting,thateconomicextractionisjustified.

ThetablesonthenextvenpagestforthBarrick’sinterestinthetotalprovenandprobablegoldandcopper

rervesandinthetotalmeasuredandindicatedgold,copperandnickelresourcesandcertainrelatedinformationat

therdetailsofprovenandprobablemineralrervesandmeasured,indicatedandinferred

TheCompanyhascarefullypreparedandverifiedthemineralrerveandmineralresourcefiguresandbelieves

thatitsmethodofestimatingmineralrerveshasbeenverififiguresareestimates,

however,andnoassricefluctuations

mayrendermineralreer,short-term

operatingfactorsrelatingtothemineralrerves,suchastheneedfororderlydevelopmentoforebodiesorthe

processingofnewordifferentoregrades,couldaffecttheCompany’sprofitabilityinanyparticularaccountingperiod.
