Thistotalfigurebreaksdownintothefollowingcomponents:

Retirements=40

Dismissals=30

Redundancies=40

Voluntarydepartures

Voluntarydepartures=220–(40+30+40)=110

Whatshouldnowbeclearisthattheapparentlysimplematterof

calculatingtheemployeeturnoverrateisinfactnotatallstraightforward.

Insuchcircumstancesthebestapproachisoftentoplacemoreemphasis

oninternalcomparisons,thanattemptingtomakenofexternal

figuresthatmay,ormaynot,havebeencalculatedusingasimilar

definition.
