Depending on my personal experience and emotional preference, I find that lf-study is an extremely important skill for tho who want to learn new things.The reasons are as following.

First, lf-study is an effective way to broaden our horizon and extend our knowledge.We can arrange our time and adjust our process flexibly according to our own concrete situation. For example, as college students, we can u some of our leisure time everyday to learn other subjects by lf-study in addition to our major knowledge. At the same time, we also can extend our major knowledge by lf-study of other subjects.

Second, lf-study is a process to develop our ability of thinking and management. Self-study is a process that we gain knowledge or skills by our personal effort without others’ instruments. Therefore, in this process, we need to make choices by ourlves, arrange and control time and process by ourlves, think about all kinds of questions by ourlves and find out the solution about different problems by ourlves. In brief, lf-study is all about us basically.

Finally, lf-study is a method to keep learning. As the saying goes, “it is never too old to learn.” And our school life will come to an end some day and only through lf-study can we keep ourlves learning all the time. Thus, all of us need to form the habit of lf-study so that we can make a progress everyday.

To begin with, teachers t a clear study plan and direction for students. how can students quickly involve in the new field? what can students achieve after finishing learning? teachers try to answer the questions by appointing reading materials, giving lectures, evaluating students. by such diver approaches, students can learn more about what they are taking, and understand what they are studying. on the other hand, learning by themlves, people do not know where to go and what to read. eventually, they lo their interests or lack sound knowledge in their field.there is another important factor affecting learning—interaction. apparently, teachers can ask question to asss how well students understand; in turn, students rai their confusions to require answers. the interaction between teachers and students results to further improvements of the learning and to more clear directions. in contrast, learning by themlves, people cannot receive the necessary and sound information. even though they have questions about the subjects, they cannot get the answers immediately, and they do not have opportunity to discuss deeply.

Finally, students who learn from teachers have a more effective learning spheres associated with classmates or professionals. not only can students discuss questions and hence make more progress, but also establish solid network that enable them to access to updated information. however, learning by themlves, people are alone in their learning. furthermore, they cannot their knowledge that is critical for the learning.

Therefore, comparing with learning by people themlves, learning from teachers is more effective and efficient. tho students who learn from teachers form a network in their field as well as getting updated knowledge. when people want to study, do not forget to get a teacher.
