Despite Ive not in my childhood yet,I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. The tales,which accompany with me in my old days,often make me think of some precious experience and nsation which only belong to children. This summer Ive review this kind of tale,which was published in 1940. Its the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author,Antoine de St-Exupery,The Little Prince.

As many other fairy-tales,the outline of The Little Prince is not very complex. "I",the narrator of the story,is a pilot who plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion,the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince,a little boy from another planet,the Asteroid B612. The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet,becau he has some quarrel with a ro,which grows on his planet. In that ca he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

On his all-alone journey,the little prince meets different kinds of people,which includes a king,a conceited man,a tippler,a businessman,a lamplighter and a geographer. From the people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. Following the instruction of the geographer,he descends in the Sahara,on the earth.

Traveling on the earth,the little prince,who es a garden of five-thousand ros,is overcome with astonishment and sadness,as he considers his ro is unique in the univer before. At that time a fox appears. The fox,who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word "tame",becomes his new friend. At the time to say farewell,the fox makes him know that his ro is unique becau she is his ro and tamed by him. From that the little prince begins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his ro.

At the anniversary day of his descent of the earth,rejecting the pilots advice,he goes back to his own planet by bite of a snake. "Its too far. I can not carry this body with me. Its too heavy." he said. He tells his friend,the pilot,he must be responsible for his ro,so he has to go back. At the end the author doesnt tell us the ending directly. Maybe its more significant for us to imagine,and for more,think over.

One of the important characters is the ro. Growing on the planet,she is very beautiful,but her coquetry and vanity suffer the little prince a lot. In spite of they love each other,he soon becomes unhappy. On the time of his departure,he just knows she certainly loves him. The character of the little prince actually reprents the children,and their native thoughts and deeds. On the contrary,the inhabitants on the other planets,such as the king,the businessman and the conceited man,they also reflect the defects in the grown-ups world. The real theme of this fairy-tale with a little sadness,I guess,is the conquence of pure love and friendship in our lives,but not others "matters of conquence" of the grown-ups.

The main character our little prince live on a planet named B612 accompany with there volcanoes an a ro who falls in love with him but can not understand each other.Conquencely,he leave his planet and his endless travelling.During this period,he come across a diversity of people. From the people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd.Then he enter earth and found thousands of ros alike.The little prince discovers that his ro is not the only ,plenty of her kind are everywhere,but then he realizes that his ro is special becau it is she that I have watered; becau it is she that I have put under the glass globe; becau it is she that I have sheltered behind the screen . Then he fall across the fox.She teaches the prince It is only with the heart that one can e rightly; what is esntial is invisible to the eye.

What impress me the most is the foxs words.love is a strange stuff.Sometimes we e it but cant grasp it.Yet,true love may be,to some extent,invisible in surface but may last permanent.Apart from love,others as well.Indeed,sometimes what we consider right turn out to be wrong,what we consider real proves fictitious,what we confud may just turn out to be the truth.The path In arching for truth may long and time-consuming,we should harbour conviction,b will and high hope.No matter what barriade in front of us,we ought to be couragous and face up to the challenge.

Once when I was six years old,I saw a magnificent picture in a book,called True Stories from Nature,about the primeval forest. It was a picture of a boa constrictor in the act of swallowing an animal. Here is a copy of the drawing.

In the book it said:" Boa constrictors swallow their prey whole,without chewing it. After that they are not able to move,and they sleep through the six months that they need for digestion."

I pondered deeply,then,over the adventures of the jungle. And after some work with a colored pencil I succeeded in making my first drowing,My Drawing Number One. It looked like this:

I showed my masterpiece to the grown-ups,and asked them whether the drawing frightened them.

But they answered:"Frighten? Why should any one be frightened by a hat?"

My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. But since the grown-ups were not able to understand it,I made another drawing: I drew the inside of the boa constrictor,so that the grown-ups could e it clearly. They always need to have things explained. My Drawing Number Two looked like this:

The grown-ups respon,this time,was to advime to lay aside my drawing of boa constrictors,whether from the inside or the outside and devote mylf instead to geography,history,arithmetic and grammar. That is why,at the age of six,I gave up what might have been a magnificent career as a painter. I had been disheartened by the failure of my Drawing Number One and my Drawing Number Two. Grown-ups never understand anything by themlves,and it si tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.

So then I cho another profession,and learned to pilot airplanes.

I have flown a little over all parts of the world:and it is ture that geography has been very uful to me. At a glance I can distinguish China from Arizona. If one gets lost in the night,such knowledge is valuable.

In the cour of this life I have had a great many encounters with a great many people who have been concerned with matters of conquence. I have lived a great deal among grown-ups. I have en them intimately,clo at hand. And hasnt much improved my opinion of them.

Whenever Imet one of them who emed to me at all clearsighted,I tried the experiment of showing him my Drowing Number One. which I have always kept. I would try to find out,so,if this was a person of true understanding. But,whoever it was,he ,or she,would always say:

"That is a hat."

Then I would never talkto that people about boa constrictors,or primeval forest,or stars. I would bring mylf down to his level. I would talk to him about bridge,and golf,and politics,and neckties. And the grown-ups would be greatly plead to have met such a nsible man.
