Learning English in an English-speaking count ry has many advantages. It is, therefore, a goodidea to learn English in Britain or America. However, I believe it is not the only way to learn thelanguage .

To begin with, most students in non-English-speaking countries learn English in high schools oruniversities. Although their spoken English is not usually of a very high standard, theirknowledge of grammar is often quite advanced. This is certainly uful when later they cometo an Englishspeaking country to perfect the language.

However, it is obviously advantageous to learn English in English-speaking countries where, every day, students will have ample chance to practi listening and speaking. In addition , students can experience the foreign culture, which greatly helps understand the language. This is especially true ifthey choo to live with an English or American family. Still, sincestudents are taught by native speakers, their reading and writing skills will improve as well .

As every coin has two sides, learning English at home also proves effective. At home studentswill have less stress and fewer problems in accommodation, expensive tuition and living costs .

In conclusion, it is preferable to study English in an English-speaking country, but areasonable level of English can be achieved at home, if a student is gifted and dedicated tostudy.

I am very sorry that I could not meet you last night. I hope that you did not wait too long outside the New York theatre. I had to look after my small brother until my mother returned home. She was a long time at the Doctor' Sand she arrived home very late. I ran all the way to the bus-stop , but I had already misd the bus. I decided to get on a tram and I arrived at the New York theatre at eight o' clock. I did not think that you would still be there becau I was three-quarters of an hour late. I do hope that you will forgive me.

The reasons, from my per-spective, can be listed as follows. The first motivation behind this trend lies in the growing abili-ty of average people to help others. Unlike tho in the early 21st century, people in current society are equipped with knowledge,skills, and even economic strength to provide more assistance to help the needy. My dormitory room is on the cond floor. It is small and crowded. The dark green walls andthe dirty white ceiling make the room em dark, and thus even smaller than it is. As you walkinto the room, you are stopped short by my bed which fills half of the room. The two largewindows over the bed are hidden by heavy dark gold drapes. Against the wall on your left, pushed into a corner behind the head of the bed, is a large bookca which is crammed withpapers , books, and knick-knacks, Wedged in between the bookca and the wall opposite thebed is a small grey metal desk. It has a brown wooden chair which ems to fill the left end ofthe room. Stuffed under the desk is a wooden wastepaper bas ket over — flowing with paperand debris. The wall above the bookca and desk is completely taken up with two smallposters. On the right hand of the room is a nar row clot with clothes, shoes, hats, tennisracquets, and boxes bulging out of its sliding doors. Everytime I walk out of the door, I think, ^v^Now I know what it is like to live in a clot. ^v^
