世界上任何民族的语言，都存在一些模拟大自然声响的拟声词。例如，汉语中有模拟狗叫的. 汪汪 声、模拟物体坍塌的 哗啦 声和模拟敲锣的 当当 声。英语中不仅有拟声词，而且还有音译词，它们和汉语中的拟声词一样，其发音与词义有着紧密的联系，易于联想便于记忆。受拟声词和音译词记忆效果的启发，我们可以有意识地利用汉语的发音模拟英语单词的读音，并将单词的读音与其词义联想起来进行记忆，这种方法叫做音义联想法或者谐音法。该法能达到闻其声知其义的效果，读过两遍即可做到过 耳 不忘。使用音义联想法时必须注意：①掌握国际音标的准确拼读。②要因词施用，不可勉强而为。③只把谐音作为记忆单词的辅助手段和提示线索，不依赖谐音拼读单词。
