一、可数名词和不可数名词

1．名词复数的构成

可数名词有单数和复数两种形式。复数形式通常是在单数形式后加词尾―-s‖或

―-es‖构成，其主要变法如下：

（1）一般情况在词尾加-s，例如：book→books，girl→girls，boy→boys，

pen→pens,doctor→doctors,boy→boys。

（2）以s，x，ch，sh，结尾的词加-es，例如：bus→bus，class→class，box→boxes，

watch→watches，brush→brushes。但:stomach→stomachs

（3）以辅音母加y结尾的词变―y‖为―i‖再加-es,例如：city→cities,factory→factories,

country→countries,family→families。但要注意的是以元音字母加y结尾的名

词的复数形式只加s，如：boy→boys,day→days。

（4）以o结尾的词多数都加-es。例如:hero→heroes，negro→negroes,potato→potatoes，

tomato→tomatoes,但词末为两个元音字母的词只加-s。例如：zoo→zoos，

radio→radios，还有某些外来词也只加-s，例如：photo→photos，piano→pianos。

注意:zero→zeros/zeroes

（5）以f或fe结尾的词，多数变f为v再加-es，例如：knife→knives，leaf→leaves,

half→halves,shelf→shelves,thief→thieves,但:roof→roofs,chief→chiefs,

handkerchief→handkerchiefs

（7）少数名词有不规则的复数形式，例如：man→men，woman→women，tooth→teeth，

foot→feet，child→children，mou→mice。

【注意】与man和woman构成的合成词，其复数形式也是-men和-women。例

如：anEnglishman，twoEnglishmen。但German不是合成词，故复数形式为Germans；

man,woman等作定语时，它的单复数以其所修饰的名词的单复数而定，如：men

workers，womenteachers。

有个别名词单复数一样，例如：Chine，Japane，sheep，deer，fish等。

（8）单数形式但其意为复数的名词有：people,police等。

（9）数词+名词作定语时，这个名词一般保留单数形式，中间加连字符。例如：

ten-minutewalk,an8-year-oldgirl,aven-dayholiday。

（10）还有些名词仅有复数形式，如：trours，clothes，chopsticks，glass，goods，

ashes，scissors，compass。

（11）只用作单数的复数形式的名词有：

physics,mathematics/maths,theUnitedStates,NiagaraFalls,news,falls

(12)可数名词当数量不止“一”时,要用复数形式。只修饰复数的词有:many,

veral,afew,anumberof,both以及不包括“一”的基数词,

（13）人名、地名的复数直接加-s,字母、符号、数字的复数加-’s

2．不可数名词“量”的表示方法

在英语中，不可数名词一般只有单数形式，不能与a/an或数词连用。如果要表

示―量‖的概念，可以用以下两种方法：

（1）用much,alittle,little,alotof,lotsof,some,any,abitof,plentyof等表示，

例如：

Therichmanhasalotofmoney．

Thereissomemilkinthebottle．

Isthereanywaterintheglass？

Idon'tlikewinterbecauthere'stoomuchsnowandice．

（2）用“数词+名词（量）+of+不可数名词”这类定语，例如：

apieceofpaper/wood/bread/news/meat

abottle/glassoforange/water/milk/juice

acupoftea/coffeeabagofrice

如果要表示―两杯茶‖、―四张纸‖这类概念时，在容器后加复数，例如：

twocupsofteafourpiecesofpaperthreeglassofwater

二、名词的所有格

名词所有格，用来表示人或物的所有，以及领属关系。有两种形式：

1.表示有生命的名词的所有格其单数形式是加's,其复数形式是s'，例如：astudent's

room,students'rooms,father'sshoes。

2.如其结尾不是s结尾的复数形式仍加's，如：Children'sDay。Women’sDay

3.以-s结尾的单数名词或人名后应加-’s构成所有格。如：awaitress’sjob,Charles’s

address

3.在表示时间、距离、长度、重量、价格、世界、国家等名词要用's，所有格.例如：

atwentyminutes'walk，tenmiles'journey，aboat'slength，twopounds'weight,ten

dollars'worth,today’snewspaper。

4.如果某物为两人共有，只在后一个词尾加-’s,如果不是两人共有，两个名词后都要

加-’s。如：LucyandLily’sbedroom,Jane’sandTom’sbooks

4.无生命名词的所有格则通常用of结构，例如：amapofChina，theendofthisterm，

thecapitalofourcountry,thecoloroftheflowers。

5.表示某物的一部分、抽象概念或一个名词被另一个短语或句子修饰时，通常用双重

所有格，例如：afriendofmyfather's，thetopofthehou,thecostofliving，

anexampleofhowtouthisword

6.表示“某人的家”、“店铺”等生活、工作场所的所有各后面的名词通常省略。

如：atMrWang’s(在王先生家)atthedoctor’s（在医生诊所）

三、名词的句法作用

1.作主语：Agirlisoverthere.

2.作宾语：Ihaveacomputer.

3.作表语：Myfatherisateacher.

4.作定语：Theschoollibrarywasbuiltlastyear.

5.作宾补：Tommadehisbrotherakite.

6.作同位语：Westudentsmuststudyhard.

【注意】:(1):名词作主语时，谓语动词要在人称和数方面和它的主语一致

(2)：名词作定语时，一般不用复数；但man/woman作定语时随其所修

饰的名词的数而变化。如：anappletree—twoappletrees

词保持数的一致。

答案：D。该题考查的是并列名词的所有格。两人共有一个房间时，只在后面的名

词后加’s。

答案：D。该题考查的是特殊名词的复数形式。从谓语动词来判断，主语应该是复

数名词。只有sheep可用作复数名词。
