摘要：Amethodfortheextractionofamineralfromanundergroundunconsolidated

formationcompristhestepsof:

(a)drivingacasingthroughtheoverburdenandintothemineralbearingpayzone,

(b)passingahighpressurewaterjetheadandassociatedsupplylinedownthrough

thecasingsothatanannulusisformedbetweenthecasingandthesupplylineandthe

jetheadprojectsjustbeyondthecasing,

(c)directingwaterfromthejetheadintothepayzonetocaudisintegrationofthe

latter,

(d)recoveringdesiredproductthroughtheannulusbetweenthepipingandthe

casing,

(e)movingthejetheadtoadifferentlevelinthepayzonewhenthepreviouslevelis

effectivelyexhausted,and

(f)movingthecasinginassociationwiththejetheadsothatthelatterremainsinthe

sameoperatingpositionwithrespecttothecasingwiththejetheadprojectingjust

beyondthecasing.

Themethodisparticularlysuitableforextractingbitumenfromtarsands.
