Unlessweliveinaremotearea,weallhaveneighbors.Wearenotusuallyabletochooourneighbors.Wecanonlyhopethatthowholivenearuswillbepeoplewecangetalongwith.However,inmyopinion,thatistheminimumrequirementofagoodneighbor.Thebestneighborsshouldnotonlybeabletolivesidebysidewithoutquarreling,butalsohelpeachother.
Thefirstrequirementofagoodneighboristhathedoesnotdisturbothersintheneighborhood.Forexample,heshouldnotbetoonoisyorblockothers’parkingspaces.Second,agoodneighborshouldcooperateinthecareoftheneighborhood.Everyoneshouldworktogethertokeeptheplaceclean.Third,neighborsshouldwatchoutforeachother’scuritybyreportingsuspiciouspeoplewhomaybetryingtostealsomethinganddangerousconditionssuchasabrokenslideontheplayground.Finally,thebestneighborshelpeachotherwhentheyareintrouble.Recently,myneighborhoodwasaffectedbyastrongtyphoon.Itcaudalotofdamage,butallmyneighborsshowedtheirconcernforeachotherbysharingfood,waterandcandles,andhelpinginanywaytheycould.
Somepeoplesaythat"Goodfencesmakegoodneighbors."ButIbelievethatkindnessisrepaidwithkindness.Also,whenweshowrespectforpeopleitismorelikelythattheywilldothesameforus.Therefore,ifwewanttohavegoodneighborswefirsthavetobegoodneighbors.

【译文】好邻居
除非住在偏远的地区,否则我们都会有邻居。我们通常无法自己选择邻居,只能希望住在附近的是容易相处的人。然而,我认为容易相处是好邻居需具备的最起码的条件。的邻居,不只是住在一起时不会吵架,而且能互相帮助。
成为好邻居的首要条件,就是不会打扰住在附近的其他人。例如,不会制造噪音,或是堵住别人停车的地方。其次,好的邻居必须要能与别人合作,一起管理附近的地区。大家应该合作,共同维护环境的整洁。第三,邻居应该注意彼此的安全,发现想偷东西的可疑人士,或是有危险的状况出现,比如游乐场中的滑梯毁损时,都要告诉大家。最后,的邻居是在有困难时能彼此互相帮助的邻居。最近,我们的社区由于受到强烈台风的影响,损失惨重,但是所有的邻居都能互相关心,分享食物、饮用水和蜡烛,并尽可能地帮助其他邻居。
有些人说:"篱笆筑得牢,邻居处得好。"但是我相信,好心一定会有好报。而且,当我们对别人表示尊敬时别人就比较可能用同样的方式来对待我们。因此,如果我们想要有好邻居,自己就必须先成为别人的好邻居。
